Summer Care-Guide

I know that sometimes caring for your jewellery can seem like a bit of a chore, but looking after your jewellery properly will ensure that it lasts, in most cases, forever!

We have put together a few easy tips for the summer months to help keep your jewels in tip-top shape.

While it’s always best to take your jewellery off when swimming in the pool or sea, I realise it’s not always possible. I always fear there is a larger risk of losing your rings on a sandy beach, than any harm that will be done by the water. And no one wants the stress of having them poolside if you are somewhere public with little security. If it's a situation like this, I recommend keeping your jewellery on. Once you are out of the water, just be sure to give everything a good rinse with fresh water and dry it off.

It may be best to take off your rings when rinsing them to make sure you can wash the inside of the bands. While chlorine is especially bad for jewellery, and you should not expose your jewellery to it regularly, the odd occasion should be fine!

When it comes to rings, make sure the fit is right! If they are a little big and you are swimming in cold water there is a chance the ring could come off - a tale I hear more often about men's wedding bands than other rings.

Most of our orders are sent out with a ZPJ polishing cloth, these are great for keeping your pieces looking sparkly and clean - as the cloth is used it will dirty, this is just the polishing compound at work. Don’t wash it, just use it again and again.
