ZPJ Love Stories - Lily & Tom

I love, love, loved making these rings with Tom and Lily! The engagement ring was a beauty and it was exciting that we could make something so special for Lily using family stones. The wedding band was especially fun, and I enjoyed the challenge of putting it together using stones from Tom's grandmother's brooch that were all ever so slightly different in size.

Lily shared the proposal story and her first reaction to the engagement ring with us...

"When I saw the completed ring on my finger for the first time, it took my breath away. It was so sparkly. I knew Tom was going to propose in the near future because we had discussed how we could use family diamonds in a ring design that I would love. We had a European trip planned together that year, so I naively assumed his knee would drop there. However, on a family trip to Auckland, I walked into the apartment to see the blinds down and soft music playing. I was slightly confused as to what was going on until I saw a small box on the kitchen counter. I looked at the box then looked at Tom, he looked nervous. I laughed, I must have been nervous too. We held hands, and his knee fell to the floor. Of course I said yes! I was so in love with the ring. I remember wearing it on the flight back to Wellington (despite it being too big). I couldn’t stop looking at it!" - Lily

"We are lucky enough to have diamonds from Tom’s late grandma and diamonds from his mum’s engagement ring to his dad. Extremely special! My wedding ring has multiple diamonds from a brooch his grandma used to wear. The rings are very sentimental and a heirloom that we would love to pass onto our children one day." - Lily

"Tom was surprised at how quick the process was. Zoë was very on to it! She can keep a secret very well!" - Lily
